The Society’s annual summer visit has had to be cancelled this year because of the Covid-19 pandemic. Instead of visiting the Library and Archives of Hatfield House as planned, we invite you to join us for a virtual visit to three other splendid UK libraries.

·         Thomas Plume’s Library, Maldon, Essex: a private library of over 8,000 books acquired by the 17th-century churchman and philanthropist.

·         Innerpeffray Library, Perthshire: Scotland’s first free public lending library, founded in 1680.

·         Lincoln College Oxford.

Join us on Thursday, 23 July, for online video tours of historical library buildings and collections followed by questions and discussion with the librarians.

We know that members are missing the chance to catch up with friends and colleagues over tea or a glass of wine before and after our monthly meetings. After the virtual library visits we’ll therefore keep the meeting open for informal conversation. Please bring your own refreshments.

5–6pm BST, virtual library tours followed by Q&A

6–6.30pm BST, time for informal conversation

All welcome. Please contact the Hon. Secretary at admin@bibsoc.org.uk by the end of Friday, 17 July 2020, to reserve your place. The details of the online event will be sent to those who have registered shortly before the virtual summer visit.
